Meet Cyprus: A Sun-dressed Paradise with Idyllic Beaches

Well-known for its beautiful weather, crystal-clear waters and sandy shores, the island of Cyprus has some of the cleanest and high-quality waters in the world. The country offers a friendly environment, advanced infrastructure, safety, year-round sunshine, magical beaches and quality of life to its citizens and tourists who choose to visit it. It is a worldwide attraction with its own seductive beauty which displays a small piece of paradise on earth. In short, Cyprus is an ideal place to be and live during the whole year!

Cyprus offers unique, historical and attractive cities and destinations to visit, while most of them are dressed in golden sand. Depends on the characteristics of the area, the beaches and colour of the sand and water differ from coast to coast. Either way, Cyprus has a wealth of beaches to choose from, while 65 of them have received the prestigious Blue Flag Award for the year 2019. The Blue Flag is a world-renowned and exclusive eco-label award, operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education. It is an award for beaches with high water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management and safety. To qualify for this award, a series of strict environmental and safety-related criteria should be met.

The list below provides information for some of the beaches which have been awarded with the coveted Blue Flag Award in Cyprus:

Fig Tree Bay, Protaras

Fig Tree Bay can be found in Protaras, a well-know tourist resort and one of the most attractive summer destinations of the island. The name of the bay comes from a solitary fig tree that has been there since the 17th century. It is characterised by its glistening water, water sports, numerous hotels and variety of restaurant to enjoy the Mediterranean cousine. Fig Tree Bay attracts not only young people, but also families who want to enjoy a relaxed summer evening with its children in the golden shores of Protaras.

Konnos Beach, Protaras/Paralimni

Konnos Beach offers one of the most idyllic and scenic views in the region. With glorious swimming conditions, local stores and restaurants, Konnos Beach has been one of the most famous beaches among the locals. It gets extremely packed during summer vocations, while its turquoise waters and cocooned area can magnetize each one of us. It can be found off the road between Cape Greco and Protaras, surrounding by the hills.

Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa

Nissi Beach is a slice of island paradise for every human being. The beach attracts people of all ages, while it combines shallow and calm seawater with bars and water sports. During summer, many famous DJs host beach parties across the shore, while numerous of restaurant and hotels can be found nearby.

Coral Bay, Paphos

Located in Paphos area, Coral Bay is surrounded with 500-meter-long coast, golden sand, crystal water and greenery. With stunning limestone cliffs, fish taverns, cafes, accommodations and bars, Coral Bay can be described as an ideal place for holidays with friends and/or family. Choose a sunbed and you are ready to relax and enjoy a great sunbathing!

Pissouri Bay, Limassol

With just 30km away from Limassol area, Pissouri Bay lies a full 1.5km of fine sand and clean water. There you can enjoy the natural beauty of the island, calm swimming water, a beach volleyball court and numerous of water sports. A picture-perfect scene of calmness and joy of a beautiful day at the beach!
