Discover 10 beautiful and unique villages to visit in Cyprus!

Cyprus is so appealing, for residents and holidaymakers alike. The weather is glorious, perfect for spending time on the many white sand beaches across the island. For those who enjoy the outdoors, Cyprus is a paradise, with so many opportunities to take a hike with breath-taking views, learn to dive, take part in water sports and so much more. Rich in culture and history, with a warm welcome and wonderful cuisine, there’s certainly no shortage of reasons to spend time on this wonderful island.

However, there’s one aspect of Cyprus that you may well have overlooked, and that’s the many unspoilt and beautiful villages that are just waiting to be discovered. Each one is different and unique...

1. Kalopanayiotis

Kalopanayiotis is such a pretty village with so much to see. From the famous sulphur springs, to the UNESCO listed Agios Ioannis Lampadistis Monastery and the stunning Venetian style bridges. It’s the perfect place to take some truly memorable photographs.

2. Fikardou


Step back in time with a visit to the virtually deserted village of Fikardou. Explore the streets of traditional brick houses, just as they were in days gone by.

3. Lofou

Small, but beautiful, lush Lofou has just 100 residents so it’s always a tranquil oasis of calm, perfect for the ultimate relaxation.

4. Lefkara

Lefkara in the Troodos Mountains is famous for lace of such high quality that Leonardo da Vinci once visited the village in order to make a purchase. To this day you can see the ladies out on the streets hand crafting beautiful lace items.

5. Kato Drys

Just a short journey from Lefkara you’ll find Kato Drys which is well worth a visit. The streets are quite steep though so you’ll get some extra exercise here. It’s worth it though!

6. Kakopetria

The village of Kakopetria is a hidden gem, just a short drive away from Nicosia. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and is famous for a type of honey doughnut known as Loukoumades.

7. Omodos

In the heart of the Limassol wine district, no visit to Omodos is complete without a visit to the vineyards to sample the delicious wines that have been produced here for centuries. Omodos is also home to the Monastery of the Holy Cross, a fascinating site for anyone interested in religion and history.

8. Platres

Platres is located in the mountains, making it the perfect base for a hike or cycle ride. It’s also a ski resort in the winter months. Check out the nearby Caledonia trail and discover the tallest waterfall in Cyprus on your journey.

9. Pedoulas

Pedoulas has a rich history, and due to its altitude, it also has some truly stunning views. If you enjoy visiting churches, you’re spoilt for choice in Pedoulas as it is home to no less than 12 churches, dating from the 15th century to the 1930s.

10. Agros

If you’re looking for a lovely souvenir to take home with you as a gift from your travels, then you must visit Agros for the traditional rose water. Made from a special cultivation of roses, there really is nothing like it and it smells divine!
